Miriam says ‘infant killers’ in BOC should be identified, prosecuted

MANILA, Philippines - Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago on Monday called as “infant killers” the Customs officials responsible for the entry of melamine-laced milk and other tainted food products into the country.

Santiago on Monday filed Resolution 694 seeking to identify, prosecute and dismiss from service the Customs officials who "obviously failed to stop smuggling of melamine-positive milk products, and instead may have profited illegally from it."

(“If we were not alerted of the presence of melamine-laced milk, it could have been distributed to the Filipino children and they too could have died. So these infant killers should not only be condemned but should also be identified.”)
